I found CrossFit while still in college at the University of Hartford. I was bored with the normal gym routine and needed a change. A friend I wrestled with in high school turned me on to and told me to try a workout. I still remember my first workout, Helen, and the feeling I was left with. I knew from that day that I was hooked and have been doing it for the past 6 years. I love the challenge CrossFit provides on a daily basis and I love helping people improve themselves and conquer their personal challenges.

CrossFit has been a huge part of my life for the past there years.  Prior to beginning CrossFit, I was injured while running cross-country as a freshman in college. I tore my labrum in my hip and developed bone spurs. Because my injury was rare, it took over 7 years to find a doctor who could diagnose me and a surgeon who could fix it. By the time my hip was fixed, I was completely out of shape and thoroughly missed playing competitive sports. Not only did CrossFit strengthen my hip, it also gave me the thrill of being a competitor again. My involvement in CrossFit has completely transformed my life: I even met my now husband at a CrossFit gym! My goal is to help others become their best self and to empower people with the knowledge they need to live a healthy and fulfilling life. What I want others to know is that while CrossFit may seem intimidating at first, everyone can do it no matter what their background is and that the benefits of CrossFit are unparalleled.

I am a former collegiate lacrosse player who found CrossFit after graduating from Alfred University. My passion is nutrition (and cooking) and I love helping my athletes recognize the role it plays in fueling their bodies. “Putting bad food in your body is like putting sugar in an engine. It just won’t run right.” The most rewarding thing for me is to see our athletes reach their goals in both the gym and life. Almost daily, I am humbled by their feats of strength and their ability to persevere and overcome obstacles. And the great thing is that we get to experience all of these triumphs as a community. This is what makes the CrossFit experience truly unique. Most importantly, I met my wife, Katie through CrossFit!
